COLOMBIA, SOUTH AMERICA--- ..The Parque Nacional Natural de Sierra Nevada del Cocuy, Chita y Güicán (commonly called the Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy) in Colombia, is a 306,000 hectare (about 1181 square miles) park in Northwestern Colombia. Up until a few years ago, much of the park area was controlled by Colombian guerillas, but is now mostly safe and has become an increasingly popular destination for local and foreign tourists.
